We have planted all of our rice fields after breaking the ground with tractors and implements, flooding and flying on the rice seed. Now one of our early pests during the early phase of the rice production process here in California will attack–SCUM!
It’s no surprise that scum enters the rice fields and creates problems for the rice farmer because the climate is so hot and the irrigated water is stagnate. We must give close attention to the baby rice as it begins to grow. It cannot get trapped under the scum.
