The 2019 California harvest has begun! In this tractor video we’re going to watch farmers harvesting rice, lettuce, tomatoes, almonds and even crawfish!
In this episode of Rice Farming TV I tour California’s agriculture with my classmates on the third session of the Rice Leadership Development Program.
First we’re off to the rice fields to learn how rice is harvested. At Montna Ranch we witness their Claas Lexion 760s cutting koshihikari, a Japanese short grain rice variety. Then it’s off to a tomato field to learn a bit about how tomatoes are harvested. It’s amazing that the tomatoes aren’t damaged as their processed through the equipment and into the trailers. In the episode we also see how almonds are harvested and I recollect about how, in a previous session of the program, we visited a crawfish farm and witnessed how crawfish are harvested.
I hope you enjoy the tractor video! Thank you for watching!
